Unfortunately, 49ers fans want current quarterback Blaine Gabbert out and Colin Kaepernick back in. On Thursday, Gabbert struggled against the Cardinals and resulted in him throwing 164 yards, being intercepted twice, and got sacked seven times during the 49ers with a 33-21 loss to Arizona. This loss dropped San Fran to 1-4 on the season. Here is when the 49ers fans went ahead and chanting “We want Kaep!” during the third quarter of the game.

According to Gabbert, he didn’t hear the chant because he was “focused” on the game. His teammates differ and admitted that they did. “Yeah, I’m not deaf,” offensive lineman Joe Staley said. “I mean, I’m focused. I’m doing my job. Just like last week, we gave the Cowboys a lot of chances. This week, [the fans] chanting that.” Offensive lineman Daniel Kilgore said,”I did, yeah.” He added, “We’ve got tunnel vision on our job and what we’ve got to do, regardless of whose back there. I’ve got to make sure I snap the ball to somebody. Blaine or Kaep. I’ve got to protect for them.”

It seems as if Kaepernick will continue to be on the sideline for the remainder of the season and many believe that it is due to national anthem protests. Instead, Fox Sports reported that if Kaepernick plays and gets seriously injured, it can cost the 49ers more than $14 million because the way his contract is arranged. Unfortunately, all the chanting will not be enough to bring Kaepernick back to field anytime soon.
