Amazon has announced a new service called Amazon Key, which allows delivery drivers to safely leave packages inside your home, even if you’re not there. The company plans to roll out the service for Prime members on November 8. The kit starts at $249.99 USD and includes an Amazon security camera, the Cloud Cam, and a smart lock. In-home deliveries are confirmed by you during your shipping option before checkout.

When the delivery driver arrives, Amazon verifies the address and delivery time and allows him or her into your home. You can watch from your phone as the camera records the attempt. The company has stated drivers will not have an access code or key, and that the service can be used to let family, friends, cleaners, sitters, and the like inside your home when you’re not in. Even if you choose in-home delivery, couriers are directed to ring the bell or knock on the door first.

That’s intended to let people inside know someone is entering. Couriers are instructed to open the door as little as possible, slide the packages in, and not enter the home if possible. Amazon Key will be available in 37 U.S. cities to start, and Amazon says it will add more.
