Amazon Looking to Back out of Five Year Deal with Woody Allen
Another day, another Hollywood sex scandal.
Sexual allegations are seemingly a daily report in Hollywood now. Now with the recent controversy is surrounding Woody Allen. Amazon Studios wants to back out of its five-year movie deal with the director. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Amazon seems pretty desperate to get out of the deal, even though they are “contractually obligated” to release his film A Rainy Day in New York. They are considering a “hefty payout” in order to cut ties. This is following allegations made by Allen’s daughter, Dylan Farrow, that he molested her at age seven.
Amazon is still technically on the hook for three more films after A Rainy Day in New York‘s release. The first film Wonder Wheel was released in December. Actors Timotheé Chalamet and Rebecca Hall, who starred in Allen’s upcoming film, are boycotting his work and choosing to donate their salaries rather than make a profit from the defamed director’s movie.
