In LA it’s always Taco Tuesday. Whether they’re made of ‘carnitas’ or ‘pollo’ tacos always hit the spot, but what makes a taco a bomb taco? Some argue that the salsa is what makes or breaks the taco others say it’s the way they cook the meat but one thing we can agree on is that taco stands take over the streets of Los Angeles. Narrowing down our favorite taco spots to only 5 was harder than you think, some things we took into consideration were taste, experience, and of course hype. Check out our list below.

Tacos Leo

This gas station taco stand has hands down the best al pastor tacos. The pork is shaved right off the spinner into a tortilla and topped off with some pineapple. At just a $1 per taco the corner of La Brea Blvd and Venice Blvd stays crowded.

Tire Shop Taqueira

Craving authentic street tacos? The Tire Shop Taqueria specializes in asada tacos with handmade tortillas. The taco stand sits beside the tire shop on Avalon Blvd. in South Central.

Not a fan of street tacos but still enjoys tacos themselves try Guisados. This restaurant shies away from the typical carne asada taco with a variety of meats. We recommend the sampler plate which gives you a taste of six different mini tacos. Stop by on Cesar Chavez Blvd in East LA.

Gilbert’s El Indio Restaurant

Enjoy some tacos for breakfast at Gilbert’s El Indio Restaurant. A specialty of this family owned restaurant is their open face taco with two eggs on a soft tortilla topped with salsa esponala. Try them out on Pico Blvd in Santa Monica.

Mariscos Jalisco

We couldn’t resist adding a taco truck, this place is the prefect infusion of seafood and tacos. Mariscos Jalisco is famous for its famous golden fried shrimp taco. Bite your way into some crunchy tacos on East Olympic Blvd.
