‘Black Panther’ Surpasses ‘Titanic’ As Third Highest Grossing Movie
Marvel’s Black Panther continues to make history even almost two months following its release! The movie has officially passed the iconic Titanic as the third-highest grossing film of all time in North America!
The film earned $659.3 million as of this past Friday, coming in just shy of Titanic’s $659.5 million, which it easily surpassed the following day. It now trails behind Wars: The Force Awakens ($936.7 million) and Avatar ($760.5 million). Black Panther has already entered the top ten globally, currently ranked at number 10 with $1.29 billion in total worldwide earnings. Seeing that the film is still in theatres, it should continue to rake in profits in the next couple of weeks or so.
Black Panther’s soundtrack, curated by Top Dawg Entertainment’s Kendrick Lamar and Anthony Tiffith has also seen considerable success. It debuted atop the Billboard 200 with 154 thousand equivalent album units and maintained the position for three consecutive weeks. It features artists from Jorja Smith, Swae Lee, ScHoolboy Q, SZA, Travis Scott, and more.
