Chance The Rapper to Receive Innovator Award at iHeartRadio Music Awards
“It seems like blessings keep falling in my lap.”
This year’s iHeart Radio Music Awards will be taking place in Los Angeles with no one other than DJ Khaled serving as the host. Like past years, the award ceremony will be honoring some of the music industry’s biggest names. This year, my favorite (and yours, I’m sure of it) Chance The Rapper will be honored with the Innovator Award.
The award recognizes Chance’s groundbreaking accomplishments in the music industry and his inspiring contributions to social issues. The 24-year-old rapper-singer has been more than just generous when it comes to giving back and donating to his Chicago community. Last year, he donated $1 million to Chicago’s public school programs. I mean, isn’t this just so moving?! I think it’s more than safe to say he deserves this honor.
Now, Chance isn’t the only artist to receive an honorary award. This year, the 24-year-old singer-songwriter, Camila Cabello will be the first ever to receive iHeartRadio’s Fangirls Award. The accolade is meant to “recognize a female artist who has pushed boundaries with her music and message while inspiring her fans around the globe.”
Jon Bon Jovi is another artist also getting recognized at next month’s award show with the 2018 Icon Award; Queen Latifah took this award home last year. Bon Jovi will also be performing at the show, and later be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April.
Performances by Cardi B, Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5, Camilla Cabello, and more are expected at the award show.
