Colin Kaepernick to Stand During National Anthem Next Season
The QB “no longer wants his protest to detract from the changes he believes he’s made.”
Following a controversial season for deciding to kneel during the National Anthem, the 49ers quarterback will stand next season.
As a means of protest, Kaepernick did not stand during the national anthem sparking much backlash and dispute over his stance. According to ESPN, Kaepernick says he no longer wants his protest to detract from the changes he believes he’s made. He also believes that given the national discussion on social inequality — and the support from other athletes from other professional sports — affirms the message he was trying to deliver.
It was reported that Kaepernick will become a free agent, opting out of his San Francisco 49ers contract this week.
