Converse to Release Basketball Shoe
Chuck Taylors for the hardwood.
Converse was a worldwide popular basketball shoe in the ’60s. Then throughout the ’80s with Magic Johnson and Larry Bird having their own Converse ‘Weapon.’ Fast forward to 2019, Converse will release a new basketball shoe with the latest technology.
Since being bought by Nike, Converse has been more innovative with their sneakers. In this case, the Converse ‘All Star Pro BB’ will use Nike’s React Core cushioning, making the shoe soft and bouncy. The shoe also features Nike’s ‘Quadfit’ mesh in the uppers that make the shoe flexible but also lock down on your foot.
“You could arguably say it is the Chuck Taylor design for this era and this generation,” says Brandis Russell, vice president of Global Footwear at Converse.
The fresh take on such a classic brand is set to release in May for $140 retail price. There will be two colorways so far, black and white. Stay tuned as more details emerge on the ‘All Star Pro BB.’
