Dodgers Take The Win on Jackie Robinson Day
Still a little magic left in number 42!
On a day where all of Major League Baseball honored number 42, there is just something about seeing the number on a Dodgers uniform. Jackie Robinson, who played for the Brooklyn Dodgers starting in 1947–and won the Rookie of the Year–was remembered Monday for what he brought to the game.
Monday evening, the number 42 brought a little bit of magic to the Dodgers; on a night where their ace Clayton Kershaw returned from injury and former Dodgers Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp returned to play against their former teams. The magic came in during the ninth inning, when the Dodgers were down 3-2 to the Cincinnati Reds and with Chris Taylor on first, Joc Pederson came up to the plate and swung for the fences, as Yasiel Puig saw the ball fly over his head and behind the wall.
With the walk-off home run by Pederson, the Dodgers came out victorious on Jackie Robinson Day, winning 4-3. Check out the ninth inning walk-off home run via Bleacher Report MLB:
