Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson & Will Farrell Are Developing A Wrestling Comedy Show
When comedy meets wrestling
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be taking a leap on a new television venture involving comedy. According to Variety, The Rock will be producing an hour-long TV comedy series about a wrestler trying to make it in the industry of wrestling.
Seems that the show is a perfect fit for The Rock as he is experienced and knowledgeable about the sport. He issued a statement to Variety: “I was 24 years old, putting in the hard work, making $40 bucks per match, and had no clue of the long journey that lay ahead of me with characters and backstage stories so colorful you’d think there’s no way that can be true. The entertaining show that goes on in front of the crowd pales in comparison to the insanely entertaining show that goes on backstage. Brian and myself can’t wait to tell our stories.”
The “Brian” The Rock is referring to is veteran WWE head writer Brian Gerwitz. Most of the shows writing will come from Gerwitz as he has stories for days. That’s not all, the comedy side will come from Will Ferrell’s Gary Sanchez Productions by co-producing the comedic show for FOX.
All in all, this is a show that we can find ourselves looking at. Comedy and body slams in one, it doesn’t get better than that.
