Jermaine Dupri Inducted Into Songwriters Hall Of Fame
Songwriters Hall Of Fame announced their 2018 inductees which includes hip-hop artist Jermaine Dupri. This is huge to the culture because this is the second time ever to have a hip-hop artist inducted. Last year Jay Z became the first to be inducted.
“Each year, the slate of songwriters we induct is more diverse and illustrative of the history and contributions that we strive to acknowledge and honor. We could not be more excited to preside over this year’s event and to give these songwriters their due respect,” said SHOF said co-chairs Kenneth Gamble & Leon Huff and president/CEO Linda Moran. Songwriters are eligible for induction after having about 20 years of hit songs.
Dupri is on his third decade of writing and producing songs. He hasn’t stopped since his first hit “Jump”. Some singers that he’s worked with include: Usher, The Notorious B.I.G, Aaliyah, Mariah Carey, and Run DMC to name a few.
He couldn’t hold his excitement as we can see on his Instagram post. Congrats Dupri, lets do this for the culture!
