Netflix Signs a Deal with ‘Deadpool’ Creator Rob Liefeld
For seven figures? 👀
Deadpool 2 is set to hit theatres on May 18, and with all the hype you know Netflix is on it. The company has made a seven-figure rights deal. They bought “Extreme Universe” which is the full set of comic book characters from Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld.
The Extreme Universe characters are written very much in the subversive, edgy style that defined Deadpool. When the first Deadpool came out it grossed high in box office and now there is a sequel coming.
“Netflix has become a part of every day existence for me and my children. Their programming is the most dynamic and diverse I have seen. I am beyond thrilled and inspired to be bringing my Extreme catalogue to life with the creative wizards at Netflix,” said Liefeld.
Liefeld apparently had another deal in the works with a different production company, but when it fell through, Netflix stepped up and put the deal together. Netflix sure knows how to keep their viewers. As of now there is no date when it will stream.
