According to reports, Sacha Baron Cohen reportedly paid OJ Simpson 20 thousand dollars to star in his upcoming comedic film. Sources say they were seen together at a hotel to talk about the role of the movie. Not surprisingly, the news has sparked negative reactions from many.
Cohen is known for his outrageous stunts, but the hiring of Simpson has been deemed as inappropriate, by many people throughout social media platforms and the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. Simpson was acquitted of their murders in 1995.
A lawyer of Goldman’s father stated, “Paying money, cash no less, in secret to O.J. is 100 percent unadulterated sleaze… This is nuts. O.J. is eternally beyond redemption or forgiveness, but putting money in the hands of another is penance by other means. If [Cohen’’s] movie is O.J.’s pot of gold, send us the check. “
Browns sister, Tanya Brown told the Daily Mail, “Nicole and Ron are two human beings who were brutally murdered. This is not a joke, nor is it entertainment.” She went onto say, “If Sacha makes this a comedic effort his victims will be personified as a joke.”
Simpson was acquitted of the 1994 murders of his ex-wife and Ron Goldman but a civil court found him liable, therefore, ordered him to pay 33.5 million, which has doubled over the past two decades.
Cohen has declined to comment to confirm whether or not Simpson was paid to appear in his upcoming film. However, Simpson admitted knowing Baron Cohen but refused to confirm whether he was paid a fee.
