Pelicans Get The No. 1 Pick in 2019 NBA Draft

Is there any reason the Pelicans won’t pick Zion?

The New Orleans Pelicans were hours away from losing Anthony Davis during the NBA Trade Deadline and they still might very well lose him, but if they do, they will get a really good jump on their rebuilding stage.

The Pelicans were rewarded with the No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA Draft. The pick was favored to go to either the New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, or the Cleveland Cavaliers.

There is no doubt that the No. 1 pick is projected to be Duke’s Forward Zion Williamson, who’s been the most coveted pick since LeBron James entering the NBA Draft.

Many expect for Pelicans President of Basketball Ops David Griffin to try and keep Davis but if he can’t, he can collect more picks if he decides to deal Davis elsewhere.

Other surprises in the lottery included the Los Angeles Lakers moving up to the No. 4 pick and the Knicks going down to No. 3.
