Some of you might find this guide offensive and think “why would I need a guide on how to pose when selfies are a thing?” but the Hubwav team has come to a conclusion that there’s a double standard for selfies. Any girl can post a selfie but not every guy can pull them off. So for those of you that don’t do selfies here’s how not to look awkward in a picture.

1. Candid
Have someone try to take a picture of you off guard. Capturing someone in their natural element can create an awesome photo. Also keep in mind that this might take a few shots so be patient.

Blessed to do what I love every day. However, that wasn't always the case. When I began my career, there were days that I didn't want to get out of bed because many things weren't going according to plan. My parents didn't approve of my career. Not because they thought it was a bad career choice, they just weren't familiar with the media and entertainment industry. We didn't have a family member or friend in the business that could help them understand or help on my journey. I had to work my butt off and figure it out all on my own. It took years for my traditional parents to understand and even longer to be successful. Success doesn't come easy. It takes lots (and lots) of hard work, passion and focus. Know that it's okay to fail, just get out of that bed and try again. My biggest failures have resulted in my greatest wins. Thank you for your support and for following my journey. For those who feel alone and think that no one believes in you, don't let that drag you down. First of all, you're never alone and the only person that needs to believe is YOU. The rest will follow. Let's continue winningβ€”we're just getting started.

2. Smile
When we say smile, we mean a genuine smile. Don’t give off a ridiculous stiff smile showing your teeth, think happy thoughts. Laughing a little gives off the picture perfect smile.

3. Hand in Pocket
Don’t know what to do with your hands, throw them in your pockets. Having just one hand in your pocket makes you look casual and cool at the same time.

4. Look Away
Sometimes you don’t want to make your face the focal point and want to show off your fit or surroundings, looking “into the distance” is the perfect pose for this. Again try to make it look as casual as possible if at any point you feel stiff or awkward shake it off and literally strike a sharp pose.

5. Hand Gestures
No we don’t mean hand signs, we mean interlocking hands and pointing. Taking a picture in the middle of the handshake can look super dope but a finger point to the other person in the picture is completely normal as well. Don’t like how your hands look we have a solution for that as well, interlock your hands. Crossing your hands out in front of you is almost a natural habit, perfectly fine for pictures.

I am the son of Mexican immigrants. Like many, my parents came to the US for a better life. When I was born my father invested in a small commercial space in South Gate, California. That space also became our home. He worked day in and day out to provide his family with the very best. Today our family owns 5 successful businesses in Los Angeles. When I was 18 years old, I was a communications college student who had just landed an on-air position at Power 106. Back then, my dad would tell me, "build your own company." At 18, I had no idea how I would do that. 10 years later, I have taken my father's advice and launched @Hubwav Media Co. To Mr. Trump and his supporters, this Mexican kid from South Gate is not a "bad hombre." I am an hombre, and every day I strive to be better one. We're not all "criminals and rapists." Actually, most of us are hard working individuals with a big heart and bigger dreams. Friends, no matter who is president, YOU will do great things in the next 4 years. Continue being the change you want to see.
