Puig Late to Receive His NL Championship Ring
Yasiel must’ve forgotten about LA traffic.
The Los Angeles Dodgers Monday were going to present Yasiel Puig with his 2018 National League ring from last year’s postseason. Puig was scheduled to receive his ring at 3 p.m. (PT) but ended up being 70 minutes late to the Dodger stadium. Something only Yasiel Puig would do in the best Yasiel Puig manner, perhaps showing us one of the reasons why the Dodgers traded him.
The former Dodger was criticized throughout the years because of his maturity and several tardiness fines he received while he was with the team. Once he got to the stadium, he told a group of reports at the press conference how much he loved the organization even saying he “might cry” when he comes up for his first at bat. When asked about this year’s games he said, “I haven’t seen the games. I don’t know how many people, how many fans, have been coming here,” Puig said of the Dodger Stadium, while answering in Spanish. “But I’m sure that when I played here there were more fans.”
Manager Dave Roberts expected the fans to present him with a nice ovation throughout the series. “As well they should,” Roberts said. “This guy did a lot of things in the community and helped the Dodgers do a lot of good things.”
The Dodgers will also be celebrating Jackie Robinson day today as well as the return of Clayton Kershaw to the mound.
