Russell Simmons wants to bring back Def Poetry Jam to HBO. He also announced via Twitter and Instagram that he wants none other than Chance The Rapper to be the host. Deadline reports the reboot would get a new title of All Def Poetry and is already in the works at HBO. Simmons has said “Def poetry has won a Peabody award, Image award, and a Tony award. Now I think I want an Emmy. The hood needs an Emmy.” The first OG Def Poetry Jam had a nice run from 2002-2007 and was hosted by Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def. The show held many artists like Erykah Badu, Common, Kanye West, and Lauryn Hill. We are very excited about this news and can’t wait to see how the reboot compares to the original.
