David Bowie’s spirit is channeling through the Vans’ David Bowie Collection. The new sneakers are designed to resemble his iconic glam rock looks, paying tribute to his albums.
The collection features four of the most iconic models from the brand: the Old Skool, Slip-On 47 DX, Era, and the Sk8-Hi.
Each sneaker references a different record for Bowie, from his his self titled album in 1969, 1971’s Hunky Dory, 1973’s Aladdin Sane, and 1974’s Diamond Dogs.
The Era shoe is an ode to Bowie’s song “Space Oddity,” displaying the same blue poke dotted pattern seen on his self titled record. “Space” is printed at the sole of the shoe to distinctly show its tribute to the single.
The Slip-On 47 V DX features a furry checkered body, accompanied by some yellow suede accents, representing the color of his hair and the checkered shirt he wore on his Hunky Dory cover.
Lastly, the Old Skool, and Sk8-Hi is an ode to Bowie’s iconic, alternate persona, Ziggy Dust, showcasing the famous red lightening design on the sides of the sneaker.
The shoes are rumored to be released in the beginning of April. You can sign up to be notified when the collection drops in this link here: https://www.vans.com/bowie
